Avenida dos Combatentes Villa II

Commissioned as a private family home, ACV2 is designed on an 816 m² plot near one of Porto’s most characteristic avenues, within a context of distinctive villas. The project begins with two defining conditions: the irregular geometry of the site and the clients’ request for a house organised without conventional internal walls.

The design responds by organising the programme through a series of concrete volumes distributed across the plot. These volumes define the main living spaces and establish a clear relationship with the garden, while ensuring privacy within the triangular boundary. Service areas are positioned in the interstitial spaces between volumes and articulated as a continuous system attached to each primary zone. This arrangement concentrates fixed functions and allows the main rooms to remain open, legible, and spatially continuous.

Living spaces are conceived in constant relation with the exterior. Transparency and continuity between inside and outside shape the domestic experience, allowing the principal rooms to extend directly into the garden and reinforcing the house’s open plan condition without relying on internal partitions.

Material choices reinforce this organisational logic. The raw presence of the concrete volumes emphasises their role as spatial anchors, while stone flooring and stone-clad roofs introduce a contrasting material softness. The balance between compact mass and open, garden-facing spaces defines the character of the house as a contemporary dwelling structured by clear spatial rules and a direct relationship with its site.
